NASA’s Artemis program has chosen a radiation-hardened 10 W infrared laser module from Lockheed Martin for the Lunar Optical Communications Terminal (LOCT). The module will demonstrate high-bandwidth data transmission between lunar landers and orbiters, targeting 100 Mbps at 400,000 km range. Testing begins in Q3 2026 at Glenn Research Center.
